Fact checking used to be part of journalism. Is it a fact that this is a basket falling? No, so he should not have gone with it.
I believe it is the lowering of journalistic standards. Plus you have the 24 hour news channels. Then, you throw in news as entertainment and not informative.

News personalities ask questions all the time that don’t get amazing, interesting answers and it didn’t sound like this Tom guy was even a part of the news crew, he was associated with the search for this kid. All he was saying was that an unidentified spec on a still photo wasn’t a huge lead. I mean what do you get from the picture Dick Tracy?
