Best online picture slideshow/gallery technology?

I have a ton of pictures I want to make available on my website in like a photo gallery and/or slideshow format, like lightbox or flash, etc. Beyond wanting a polished looking finished product, I want something that’s cross-browser compatible, loads quickly, and is fast regardless of what type of internet connection is used to view the site.
From your experience, what do you recommend I look into?

It’s very fast – No signup required! It’s completely free unless you’re willing to upgrade.

I recommend Ourpix.com,you can find slideshow software there such Movie Story, Photo Story Platinum and Flash Gallery Factory.

I am using "PPT2Flash Std" to make slideshow.
I always upload my works on my blog and other related web sites, I want share my photos directly online with people who interested in. I used PowerPoint to make slideshow, it is easy to use and you can add lots of editing and multimedia elements in your slideshow. But PowerPoint cannot be shown directly on Internet, so I use this tools to covert PowerPoint slideshow to Flash, so I can directly show my work on Internet.
