How to save internet explorer desktop / wallpaper picture?

Posted on March 6th, 2010 by admin

I have a picture that I found on the internet set as my wallpaper.
I now want to change the wallpaper to a new picture, however I don’t think I’ve saved the old picture my comp, and I don’t want to lose it.

So is there any way I can save it (without going back to the place I found it originally) in case I want to use again in the future, or does it permanently deleate once it’s been changed?

Thanks

What OS are you using?

In windows I think the file is stored someplace in c: i can’t remember where exactly, but you can do this:
>Right click on task bar (Bottom) > Properties > autohide taskbar;
>Right click on desktop and view show desktop icons(if you can see them)
>minimise all the open windows, (or close them, whatever but get rid of them from the screen)
>click on the blank desktop, this should hide the task bar and you’ll have a full view of the wallpaper. >Press Print screen on the keyboard

open paint(start > All programs > accessories > paint ) paste (ctrl -V) now go to file> save as> Select what ever format you want to in filetype(jpg gives you a small file)
and save location. i think this should be enough for you to save the image.

    If you use Windows XP, check if it’s somehow in c:\Windows . You should find there more pictures and all are related to wallpaper. If not, you can check also in c:\My Documents\My Pictures

    The best way is to right click on Desktop, then Properties, click on the tab Desktop. Write somewhere the name of the current picture used into Background section and use search option to find the files on your computer.
    You should find it 100%.
    Good luck!
